Jesse Sea, 78, of New Hope, keeps other seniors dry as they board the center's van in a rain shower. Sea, a volunteer at the center, also helps deliver food to shut-ins.

Nell Bowles (from left), Anne Meyers and Earl Bowles wait for the next number to be called during a game of bingo at the Cave City McDonald's. The restaurant offers food coupons as prizes at a weekly bingo game.

'That can't be barbeque chicken,' said one senior as the lunch of the day was served in Styrofoam trays. The center also delivers a daily lunch to 15 shut-ins.

Regulars at the Cave City Senior Citizens Center settle in for their daily dose of soap opera. The center, located on Duke Street, is a second home to its eight regular members.

Jesse Sea, in the back of the van, entertains the group with his rendition of 'Silver-haired Daddy of Mine' on the way back from a field trip to Bowling Green.

When she is not at the senior center, 'Granny' Frances Stockton, 83, usually finds herself alone at home, bored and lonely. 'Without the center I'd have nothing to do,' she said. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 24.6 percent of Cave City residents are 60 years of age or older.
