Betty Veneklase spends a lot of time talking with other Humane Society volunteers to arrange care for animals. She often ends up adopting them herself. "I'll stop after this one," she said.
Betty Veneklase said she has loved animals all her life. "This was where it first began, with my cat Tinker."
"When I lay on my couch to watch T.V., I always have company," Betty Veneklase said.
"She doesn't bite." Betty Veneklase says as she hugs her horse "E.T." Betty volunteers at the Nelson County Humane Society and owns over 10 dogs, 27 cats, 30 goats, 2 horses, 2 pot-belly pigs, a mule and more.
"You can't get overwhelmed," Betty Veneklase said as she starts the morning feed of her indoor pets. She has 10 dogs, 27 cats, and a pot-bellied pig.
