Ernesto Chavolla is the main trainer at Whitney Stables in Cox's Creek, Ky. Chavolla has worked with horses since he was a child growing up near Guadalajara, Mexico. Chavolla has been working at Whitney Stables since 1976.
This two-year-old Morgan horse is controlled by Ernesto Chavallo at Whitney Stables. This is the first time the horse has been in the barn. When horses are first moved to the barn from the fields, there is a gradual process to train them. While being still uneasy around humans, the horse struggles with Chavallo for 2 minutes until it is calmed and led back to its stall. As the workers crack a whip and the horse neighs loudly, expressing its discontent, it is an extreme contrast from the usual quiet sounds of trotting hooves on soft dirt and the occasional low whinny.
